The Begining (1)

I
love fashion. I always have and most likely always will. I spend much of my
free time dedicated to further this interest. One of the ways I do this is by
reading fashion and lifestyle blogs. I find it so interesting to get a glimpse
into how other style their outfits, their house, and how they go about their
lives as an amazing fashionable person. I have always wanted to contribute to
the amazing community of fashionable women. I figured creating a blog was a
feasible way to do just that. I have wanted to create blog for a while now, but
I have never had an excuse to do it. After all, maintaining a blog takes a lot
of work. I’m hoping that by finally pursuing the creation of a blog I can
further the minimal skills I have in multiple areas. I’m hoping to improve on
photography, wed design, writing, photo editing and more.
Keeping
track of my goals for this will be difficult. It is unrealistic to tell myself that
a goal is to have people actually read my blog is such a short period of time. I
think that the most important goal to set for myself is sustainability. I want
this to be a project that I continue with, not forget about. I’m hoping that by
the end of the project I am able to find the proper resources to continuing
posting. This will mean that I will have to become acquainted with editing
software, WordPress, photography and many other aspects that I know little
about.
Though
this familiarity is my main goal, with a project like this it is important that
I set micro goals for myself. In order to have motivation to work on the blog,
which will require lots of work in the beginning, I must set aside time
specifically for writing, shooting, or editing. As of now I’ve only covered two
aspects of creating a blog, though both processes must be built on further, all
I have done is minimal web design, and brainstorming for blog posts. The ideas
I have for posts so far are:
-
How I Style Glasses
-
My Favorites of the Season
-
DIY Seasonal Art
-
How Style a Simple Grey Hoodie
-
Go-To Hairstyles for Short(ish) Hair
-
My Current Favorite Accessories
I
most likely will not use all of these ideas, as I move forward I will probably
think of much better and much more feasible ideas. For now, I just hope that the
content I will be creating is interesting. Hopefully I can create the blog I’ve
always imagined I would have.

Hi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteYour idea seems great! What do you plan to do after you learned this much about fashion? Do you want dress "better" everyday for school, or is something like exclusively for "walking the stage" events? Do you know how will you track your progress? I think it would be great to post your new "creation" each week and let us comment on it to see your improvement throughout 6 weeks. I can't wait to see your combination of fashion, photography, and web design!

DeleteI am not planning on using this blog as a way to better my sense of fashion (though it may do that anyway) and so I am not going to try to dress better (ain't nobody got time for that, I look good when I need to). As for posting my "creations," the posts I create will be going up on the blog I created, https://whyallthefussblog.wordpress.com/ though I most likely will give previews/ summaries and an inside look into what I create.

Are you going to make another blog that is the Fashion blog, or is it going to be on this blog? If you are going to be keeping it going longer than this project, I would recommend creating another blog (wordpress is the best) for the sole purpose of the fashion blog, and completely separate from this one. Also, is there a quantifiable way to measure your success? Maybe views or likes or comments?

Delete1. I do have the fashion blog as a separate blog and yes it is on wordpress, the link is in the about me side bar thing but just for reference i will put the link here too: https://whyallthefussblog.wordpress.com/
2. I was considering measuring my success in views/comments/likes, however nowdays in order to get anyone to view your blog, your blog needs to look very professional, so for such a short period of time, especially when I'm learning I figured measuring my success like that would just be very self deprecating

Hi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteI am really interested to see your fashion blog! I was thinking possibly another way to show progress on your blog and maybe expand your audience could be through Instagram, where you can still track foot traffic and easily show off when new blog posts are uploaded.
Also, do you have anyone in mind for an expert yet? Maybe it would be cool to talk to someone at a magazine or for another online blog!
I'm really excited to see your progress and am definitely going to follow your blog! Good luck!
